- Universite Paris 8, Photography: the basics and the essentials. Les Beaux Arts de Paris, Multimedia: I discover that pictures once taken are still a live material for further exploitation. Paris – Work with galleries. Work in cinema, assistant. Then as set photographer. First long feature with director Raoul Peck on “Molloch Tropical” in Haiti. Quickly after that, work on les “ Emotifs Anonymes” of Jean-Pierre Ameris. Other movies, and at the same time intermittent work for the press. Working on movie sets is moving me from solitary pursuits to collective energy. Thanks to all that my little enterprise keeps sailing, my horizons broaden. Art? Photojournalism? Who needs to know? When necessity is the trigger of invention, art is in the wings.
Southern California – Arizona – New Mexico – Texas - And border towns. Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez, Mexico – 2009 – 2010 - 2011 – Along the Wall. Investigative photography and also video interviews of the actors on both sides of the Border and of the Law. The culture of crossing. Its habitat. Its ecosystem. Its necessity. Its invention. Its victors and its victims. Borders ever changing of the two worlds. I will return.
Las Vegas, Nevada – 2011 - 2012 - The Queens of Burlesque. The dominating characters of the quintessential American art of strip tease. Its scenery. Its disjointed joints. Neon signs trajectories of its stars, from streetlights to spot lights. Show, business and performance. A genre in itself. Unbridled energy of role-playing. Eroticism and competition. Women on the margin and forever on stage. Interviews and reenactments.
Las Vegas, Nevada – 2012 – Daily life at the weekly motel. The aboriginal society of the left behind. Fates and faces. Arrangements. Interiors. I embarked on that Noah’s Ark long after it was beached on very dry land and I met equally unconscious despairs and hopes.
April 2012 -
People. My life meets theirs at equal distance between eye and reality, where the picture takes place.
